The American Legion community is made up of several groups that work together to serve veterans, families, and our community. Here’s how to know which one is right for you:

If you’re a U.S. military veteran or currently serving, you can join as a Legionnaire. Members share a bond of service and continue their mission by supporting fellow veterans and their community.

If your parent, grandparent, or guardian is a veteran, you can join the Sons of the American Legion. This group honors family military service through volunteer work and community projects.

If you’re the spouse, parent, sibling, or relative of a veteran, you can join the Auxiliary. Members support veterans, military families, and community initiatives alongside the Legion.

American Legion Auxiliary

If you’re already part of the Legion, Auxiliary, or Sons — and you love motorcycles — you can join the Riders. They support veterans and raise awareness through rides, events, and fundraisers.

On May 15, 1929, Norco American Legion Post 328 officially received its national charter and colors. The first fundraising event was a special showing of a World War I film at the California Theatre in Corona, which netted a profit of $100.

In July, a women’s auxiliary was formed with the objective of doing child welfare work, hospital relief service and assisting disabled veterans.

Into the 1930s, the American Legion and the auxiliary were extremely active in working to support veterans. Fundraisers included the sponsorship of rodeos, motorcycle races, barbeques and dances, and the Norco Post also played a key part in the Congressional passage of the 1932 bonus bill for World War I veterans.
